Annapurna

Annapurna Base Camp Trek

A shorter Annapurna classic into the sanctuary, with Poon Hill sunrise on the way.

Annapurna Base Camp is the right trek if you want a high Himalayan amphitheater without a 5,000-meter pass. The trail climbs through Gurung villages into the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Most itineraries include a Poon Hill sunrise before or after the sanctuary. We usually pair this trek with a night in Pokhara and a seat on our Kathmandu–Pokhara bus.

Annapurna Base Camp sits at 4,130 m inside the sanctuary amphitheater — no glacier travel or ropes. Expect stone steps, forest, and village trails; total distance is often 110–130 km with Poon Hill included. ABC and TIMS permits are handled from our Kathmandu desk.

Questions

Is ABC easier than Everest Base Camp?

It is shorter and lower, so many first-time trekkers choose it. You still need several hours of walking each day.
